Blake Willis graduated from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, with a bachelor's degree in agribusiness plant science. He then earned a master's degree in weed science from Utah State University, followed by a degree in weed science from the University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign. He joined the faculty of the Department of Applied Plant Science at Ricks College in 1991, teaching in the department for over 30 years as the college transitioned to BYU-Idaho.
