BYU-I UNIVERSITY BAROQUE ENSEMBLE WELCOMES THE CHRISTMAS SEASON WITH FESTIVE PERIOD MUSIC
Begin your holiday season with the BYU-Idaho University Baroque Ensemble performing Christmas concertos from 18 Century Europe on Thursday, November 13 at 7:30pm in the Barrus Concert Hall. The concert features Scarlatti’sCantata pastorale per la Nativitawith soprano alumnus Maryn Tueller. Additional works by Locatelli, Manfredini, Schiassi and Torelli will be performed. Audience members will enjoy the lush sounds and lovely melodies of these glistening concertos which were most likely composed for 18th Century church services. Students in the University Baroque Ensemble perform on period instruments patterned after 17 and 18 century examples with emphasis on appropriate style and how this music may have sounded in its own time period.
