Roger Merrill joined the faculty of BYU-I in 2002 and is a native of southeast Idaho having grown up in Rigby. He graduated from Ricks College, BYU-Provo, and obtained his master's degree from Idaho State University. He primarily teaches acting, directing, and theatre methods for education majors, but also directs mainstage productions. He and his wife, Heidi, own and operate The Playmill Theatre in West Yellowstone, Montana, during the summer months where they direct, act, and make popcorn. They are the parents of four very talented children who together with their spouses have all participated in the theatre both on stage and off. In the rare moments when he is not in rehearsal, he enjoys travel, attending theatre productions, beekeeping, and lapidary (Google it).
