On Friday, July 10, Carriage Cove Short-Stay Rehabilitation is inviting everyone to go for a walk to better their lives.

The “Walkathon” will take place from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. in any place someone might be. There isn’t a set destination or a number of miles to walk, for that matter.

Anyone can walk anywhere for however long they want. The walk is solely designed to help promote therapeutic wellness, which basically means to do things that help someone live a healthier life.

“I wanted to focus on educating others on what therapeutic recreation is and what it entails,” Kasiah Morrison, the event organizer said.

Many people have been affected physically by the pandemic, between being stuck inside to being restricted from regular activities. For the event to be happening during the pandemic, Morrison said it will have a huge impact on people.

I think it’ll be very significant to give people hope,” Morrison said. “It will be a good opportunity for [people] to boost their self-esteem.”
