Every fall and winter semesters, the apparel design students and faculty put on a fashion show. It’s one of the largest student-run events on campus.

Other students involved include family and consumer science majors and applied plant science majors. Students model their work down a runway, just like a regular fashion show. The event is decorated with the help of the applied plant science majors.

“It’s like a bug, overgrown wedding reception,” Genet Orme said. Orme has been working at BYU-Idaho for four years. Genet Orme and Julann Blake are the only two full-time apparel design professors on campus.

This semester, the show is called “Apricity” which means, “the warmth of sun in winter.”

Orme and Blake work with students over the course of the semester to prepare for the fashion show. The fashion show used to be for advanced students, but Orme and Blake have since opened it up to all apparel design students and have made it a requirement for the classes.

The fall fashion show “Apricity” will happen on Saturday, December 15 from 4:00 to 5:30 PM in the Hyrum Manwaring Center Grand Ballroom.
