After years of hiatus and several attempts, the Rexburg Community Theatre (RCT) is ready to present the classic “The Sound of Music.” Originally, after obtaining the rights, Broadway went on tour with the musical, which halted RCT’s performance, and then the pandemic also took a toll on the production.
Despite the challenges, the show must go on, and this run of performances will be a send-off for the director Ann Cluff.
“This is going to be the last production that I am going to be directing for RCT. My husband will be retiring this year and we are putting in our papers to go on a mission,” Cluff said.
The competition for roles was fierce for this production with more people auditioning than ever before, Cluff said.
The morally complex lead role of Maria was given to Abby Miller and the role of Captain von Trapp is held by Evan Dunn.
Shows will be on Friday, Saturday and Monday at 7 p.m. You can purchase tickets here: https://rctheatre.org/
