Providence Square Apartments in Rexburg is hosting a special event on July 11, to hopefully help alleviate some of the difficult times COVID-19 has brought all of us.

People have been struggling with the isolation and social distancing the last few months, and that’s the main reason Providence Square is hosting “Saving Summer.”

At this event, local food trucks and other vendors can come down to make some revenue, and others from the community who attend can take advantage of an inflatable jousting ring, and other fun things.

Emma Doss-Johnson, the Community Housing Manager for Providence Square, said the event is free for anyone to attend.

“We wanted to make it a free event,” Doss-Johnson said. “It’s free to the community and… free for the vendors as well.”

Doss-Johnson said face masks will be encouraged and the staff will have plenty of disinfectants to help keep people safe from the coronavirus.

The event takes place on July 11 between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.

We’re all here together, [and] we’re all dealing with the same kind of thing,” Doss-Johnson said. “A distraction would be great…a mental break to recharge and think of the good things that are happening [and] the good stuff in the community.”
