Ed Kumferman, a professor in the Department of Languages and International Studies, has been called to serve as the mission president over the Ukraine Kiev Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Brother Kumferman said he will go to a mission president training in July in Provo, Utah, before he and his wife and 10-year-old daughter move to Ukraine.
He said he has been preparing for his new calling by studying the scriptures more and by listening to talks from General Authorities.
For those who are struggling with deciding to serve a mission or not, Brother Kumferman counselled students to just go and see where the Lord leads them.
