The Rexburg Farmer’s Market will be open for the season on May 11 from 4-8 p.m. on College Avenue.
Bryce Johnson a member of the Rexburg Farmer’s Market Board of Directors, said this year they will have 40 vendors which makes this year the biggest Farmer’s Market they have ever had.
“You’ll see a lot of vendors this year,” Johnson said. “We actually have 40 vendors this year, so we’re the biggest we’ve ever been. We’re actually maxed out for the space we have at College Avenue.
He said some of the vendors people can expect to see at the market include: Jones Family Kettle Corn, World’s Best Corndogs, Fair Land Lemonade and Treat Parlor, BYU-Idaho Plant Shop and more.
Johnson said the farmer’s market has a lot of benefits not only for the businesses but for the community as well.
“I would say the farmer’s market is a huge help to the community,” Johnson said. “It not only provides local businesses the opportunity to get some exposure, but it also provides something there for the community where there’s something to do on a Friday night.”
Johnson said another way the market is able to help the community is through their Double up Food Bucks’ which began last year.
“We are able to accept food stamps,” Johnson said. “The way the Double up Food Bucks program works is that with the funding that we have received through grants, we can actually match the food stamps.”
He said with this program they are able to match food stamps up to 10 dollars’ worth so people can spend the dollars matched in Idaho grown produce and fruits.
The Rexburg Farmer’s Market will open on May 11 through September every Friday from 4-8 p.m. on College Avenue.
