Planet Doom’s Haunted Attraction is having a Summer Screamfest tonight and tomorrow evening at 680 1st Street in Idaho Falls from 7 to 11 p.m. Tickets are $12 a person.

For eight months, Brent Wilson, general manager for Planet Doom and his crew have spent countless hours rebuilding it.

“Our goal was to try and get the word out in the summer time and kind of show off all the hard work in the community so that there’s good word of mouth,” he said.

They hope this weekend will get people excited to come in the fall.

Planet Doom was previously known as Dr. Slaughters. For 18 years they funded the Bonneville County D.A.R.E. program, and when it retired, they needed a new funding source. In 2018 Wilson presented a business plan to D.A.R.E. and decided he could bring Dr. Slaughters to the next level.

He has always loved the thrill of Halloween. He said he remembers building haunted houses in his garage when he was a kid. Later, he made a home haunted attraction that 1100 people went through.

There are 180 youth and teenage volunteers who work at the haunted mansion. This summer they’ve been able to help with the finish work and learn about carpentry.

This weekend when people wait in line, there will be a dance crew performing songs and a zombie brain smash game that people can participate in.

This fall they will open on September 13, due to Black Friday and it will go until November 2. The schedule for dates and times can be found on their website at https://planetdoomhaunt.com/. They can also get their tickets online, or at the door. They will be accepting cash and all major credit cards.
