BYU-Idaho Radio · Madison School District's Director of Communications, Macail Chavez, looks towards the future

Macail Chavez recently became the director of communications for Madison School District and she is excited for the journey ahead.

Chavez has experience with running her own business, Fairland Lemonade, and says her background in business will be beneficial in her new endeavor as director of communications.

“When I saw the position open I said ‘Wow, that is really exciting. That’s somewhere I can put my creativity and my experience with what I enjoyed from owning a business’,” Chavez said.

Eight years ago, Chavez and her family made the move from California to Rexburg. The move to a new state was challenging, but Chavez and her family put a lot of effort in involving themselves in the community.

“We were alone and that was one of the reasons why we have pushed so hard to be out there in the community to get positions and jobs that deal with people in a very direct way because it’s comforting and it’s nice to know people,” Chavez said.

Chavez looks forward to working with community members as they plan events in the upcoming months.
