Nationally touring stand-up comedian Nick Hoff will be performing at the historic Romance theater this Saturday at 7p.m. as part of LOL Rexburg’s first comedy show.
Aaron Perkins, the owner and founder of LOL Rexburg, was inspired to create LOL Rexburg after he went to a Dry Bar Comedy show in Utah. Dry Bar is known for only featuring comedians who use clean material.
After laughing almost non-stop for two hours, Perkins felt rejuvenated and uplifted and thought a comedy scene would be something that could really benefit the Rexburg community.
“I really feel that this is something the community will value, that good clean comedy is something that they will find therapeutic,” Perkins said.
This comedy night will begin with a local improv comedy troop called Unscripted, followed by opener Seth Tippetts, a veteran comic of the Salt Lake comedy scene. Nick Hoff will then take the stage. The lobby doors will open at 6:15, the theater doors will open at 6:30. Tickets are available for purchase online.
While LOL Rexburg will have a strong start with Saturday’s humor, Perkins hopes his comedy dream will continue to expand.
“I would love for this to be a long-term project. I would love to do more than one show a month. I can see this growing to where I build or lease my own space where I can bring in other sorts of programs, not just stand-up comedy but small bands... But, I think the sky is the limit.”
