REXBURG - Local adoption agency Adoption.org has changed its name to AdoptionLife.org.
The agency opened its doors in Rexburg in 2015. It specializes in helping people through the process of adoption and is a licensed adoption agency in Idaho and Utah.
Over the nearly two years since the agency started operating, Executive Director Melissa Williams says they've helped facilitate more than 40 adoptions in Idaho and Utah. She explains why the agency changed its name.
"Our philosophy, is really, we're about life," Williams said. "Life on all sides of the adoption triad. The birth mother chooses life and she chooses a life for her child by choosing an adoptive family. And the adoptive family - adoption changes lives - it changes their life. And of course the adoptee has a different life with making that change. And it really changes our lives as adoption workers as well. And so, it's really, it's fuller. We look at it as a very full process and it's a beautiful process and that's why we decided to go with that change."
