In as uncertain times as this, it’s important to have all your bases covered. One of those bases is adequate health insurance. However, according to the Commonwealth Fund, more than 40% of U.S citizens don’t have health insurance. In a world dealing with a pandemic, that can be a crucial mistake. Your Health Idaho wants to help.
Your Health Idaho is one of 15 state-based health marketplaces in the country. Next month, YHI will have a special enrollment period for people in Idaho to gain access to health insurance.
“We want to open up the marketplace from March 1st to March 31st to provide consumers with another tool to support economic recovery here in Idaho,” said Pat Kelly, the executive director of Your Health Idaho.
He says now more than ever, health coverage is a necessity for everyone.
“Having comprehensive health insurance is one of those things that provides incredible peace of mind. No one can anticipate when an emergency is going to arrive, and those who have that comprehensive health insurance know that if something happens, they won’t be facing some unexpected financial impact,” said Kelly.
Kelly said the extra month will help give a lot of people the health insurance they need, and the process to get it isn’t difficult.
“Think of it as the Amazon of health insurance,” he said. “You can anonymously shop online, and you can find out if you’re eligible for a tax credit. You can then use that tax credit to offset the monthly premium.”
You can shop for health insurance plans and check to see if you’re eligible yourself at yourhealthidaho.org.
