From growing up in a family of 12 to raising a family of eight, Heather Richey is a mother first and a musician second.

Richey said her family was always singing. Since kindergarten, she would sing and play the piano and in college, she recorded her first original song.

"Since I was a little girl I wrote songs," said Richey. "I was 17 when I came to college and my sister-in-law heard one of my songs at a Family Home Evening... she knew Arlen Wilcock, the head of the media department, and she called him up and said, 'Hey, could you record my sister-in-law,'...I was scared to death."

She overcame her fear and has become a singer/songwriter and an advocate for women and children. She said her music is centered around her faith in God and Jesus Christ.

"The inspiration comes from my faith in the Gospel and in Christ," said Richey.

Richey has two albums, Hold Your Light Up and Every Footstep. You can find her music on her website. Click below to hear the full podcast episode.
