The Eastern Idaho State Fair is back for the next two weeks with the opening day Friday, August 30.
The fair ends on September 7, and the theme this year is ‘Taste the Fun,’ one of general manager Brandon Bird’s favorite themes in the past 10 years.
“It captures the magic of the fair in just a few words,” Bird said. “Every year we try and find a way to capture the two things that people love most about the fair, that is the fun and food that everyone loves.”
The Eastern Idaho State Fair broke past records of attendance when nearly 250,000 people attended the Eastern Idaho State Fair in 2018.
“This past year we were recognized as being number two in the nation as having one of the best state fairs and we are pretty proud of that,” Bird said.
Bird hopes to break those records again this year with the help from talent like Brett Young opening night and Gabriel Iglesias closing the fair grandstand events.
If attendees purchase a grandstand event ticket, it includes admission into the fair at no additional charge.
The fair also features several free events daily including a dog Frisbee show, a sword swallower, and other acts on small stages throughout the venue with the purchase of general admission.
“People will be guaranteed to have lots of fun at the fair,” Bird said.
Tickets are available at the gate for general admission. Prices are $7 for adults and children 5 and under are free. For a list of events and more information, you can visit their website www.funatthefair.com.
