BYU-Idaho Radio · Dr. Kevin Brower Interview

The Anam Cara Choir will hold two concerts this weekend in Rexburg and Idaho Falls.

These will be the first concerts that Anam Cara has put on since the pandemic. This concert is titled “Wonder and Glory: A Light in the Storm.”

"Really it’s about wonder and awe even in the midst of challenges and things that are going on around us to seek and to experience wonder and awe,” said Dr. Kevin Brower, the current artistic director of the Anam Cara Choir. “In our case, we are seeking and experiencing that through choral music.”

These will be Dr. Brower’s last concerts with the choir as he is stepping down from his position as artistic director due to new life circumstances.

He has been with Anum Cara choir for nearly 11 years, and he is sad to go but he knows it’s time and he has loved his time with the choir.

“It’s been a joy,” Dr. Brower said. “It’s been wonderful to be involved in the community and especially in participating in a choir. To be able to gather weekly and to sing and to socialize and to just be involved in the rich art of choral music.”

Dr. Brower says the time is right to step down and isn’t worried about how the choir will move forward without him. The choir has yet to name a new artistic director.

You can see Dr. Brower’s final performance with the choir this Saturday at the Barrus Concert Hall in the BYU-Idaho Snow Building at 7:30 p.m. or at the Idaho Falls Civic Auditorium on Monday, May 9, also at 7:30 p.m.
