In honor of her six year old grand son who passed away 15 years ago, Janis Ritchie hosts a Nativity pageant at her family farm. This pagent is played by children 4 years and older along with farm animals including a 28 year old donkey named Simon.
"We had some friends that, they didn’t do it like this, they put out a couple animals and Mary and Joseph in the middle." says Ritchie, "Then on Christmas Eve they’d invite their friends and read out of the Bible, they started using our animals. Then our Grandson passed away, and the neighborhood… everyone is so good and that’s how we started, in his honor. "
Ritchie said that her grandson loved animals and would have been the first one to volunteer to participate in the pageant.
His little sister also partisipates in the pageant.
Richie also says that the kids really enjoy serving their community by giving them a non-commercial way to celebrate Christmas. They really just have fun together.
There is two Performances a night on Monday nights and Sunday 23 at 6:15 and 7:00 pm, and on Christmas eve at 5:30 and 6:15 pm.
The adress to the Farm is 1120 S. 6000 W Rexburg, ID 83440.
