The Blackfoot Community Players are performing “Annie Get Your Gun” in the Blackfoot Performing Arts Center Aug. 9 – 17.
About 55 people make up the cast and crew. Director Jana McBride said the cast will have you swooning, laughing, and enjoying the show. The two lead parts, Annie Oakley and Frank Butler, are played by a real-life married couple Kiah and Jacob Spjute. They recently graduated from Utah State University with their Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in vocal performance.
McBride said Jacob Spjute will make you “melt in your seat” when you hear him sing.
“He is one of those people you could just sit and listen to all day,” she said. “He’s so relaxed and his voice is so beautiful that you, you just kind of melt when you hear him.”
She had high praise for Kiah Spjute too.
“Her acting skills are through the roof,” she said. “She is so high energy and fun on a stage, plus her voice is amazing. And so, when you just can’t wait to hear her sing again, and you want to hear her sing more after she quits.”
The Blackfoot Community Players decided to put on “Annie Get Your Gun” because it “hadn’t done a western for a long time and often they are popular in our neck of the woods,” McBride said.
Tickets for the musical are $10. It runs nightly, except Sundays, through Aug. 17. You can buy tickets online at https://blackfootcommunityplayers.com/tickets/ or buy them at the door.
