BYU-Idaho Radio · Elder Valenzuela speaks on following promptings from the Holy Ghost

The BYU-Idaho devotional speaker reminded students that they can receive gifts through the Holy Ghost, which benefit them and the people around them.

Elder Arnulfo Valenzuela is a General Authority Seventy and a member of the Mexico Area Presidency for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He spoke about following the Holy Ghost and how important it is in his BYU-Idaho devotional address.

BYU-Idaho Radio · Elder Valenzuela explains the importance of having the Holy Ghost in our lives

In an interview with BYU-Idaho Radio, he said he wanted to speak about this topic because of President Russell M. Nelson.

“These times are challenging times for all of us, especially the rising generation,” Elder Valenzuela said. “We have heard in the past from our dear prophets to know how to hear Him, and we hear Him through the Holy Ghost.”

In his address to the students of BYU-Idaho he talked about how the Holy Ghost is the third member of the Godhead and how through the Spirit students are able to receive a sure testimony of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

“As we strive to stay on the path that leads us to eternal life, the Holy Ghost can guide us in our decisions and protect us from physical and spiritual danger,” Elder Valenzuela said.

He emphasized this point later in the address by saying how vital it is to students’ physical and spiritual safety that they keep the gift of the Holy Ghost.

In that same interview with BYU-Idaho Radio he shared just how he was able to keep the gift of the Holy Ghost alive in his heart.

“I asked Elder Richard Scott that same question and he said, ‘Elder Valenzuela, the key to have the Holy Ghost in your life always, is your wife,’” Elder Valenzuela said.

He talked about the importance of the Holy Ghost in both his devotional address and throughout the interview.

In his closing remarks he shared how the Holy Ghost doesn’t only affect members of the Church, but all truth seekers can feel the Spirit.

“All honest seekers of the truth can feel the influence of the Holy Ghost, leading them to Jesus Christ and His gospel. However, the fullness of the blessings given through the Holy Ghost are available only to those who receive the gift of the Holy Ghost and remain worthy. After receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, a person has the right to the constant companionship of that member of the Godhead if he or she keeps the commandments,” Elder Valenzuela said.
