What is the PPC?
The BYU-Idaho Presentation Practice Center coaches both on-campus and online students and faculty to better present themselves, regardless of assignment, because everybody talks.
PPC Hours
Appointments with tutors vary and can be found on I-Plan. Office hours are Monday through Friday: 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. Contact us at (208) 496-3719 or presentationpractice@byui.edu.
Why should you visit the PPC?
No matter your public speaking level or major, the Presentation Practice Center helps with any stages of the speechmaking process: from brainstorming and outlining to practicing your speech to obtain that polished professional presentation.
You can schedule a free 30 minute appointment on I-Plan to meet with our trained tutors who are conditioned to help with any stage of the speechmaking process such as: nerve management, attention getting devices, emotion, body language, transitions, filler words, visual aid use, slide design, practice techniques and much more.
How to Schedule an Appointment
Where is the PPC Located?
The center is located on-campus in the tutoring extension of the McKay Library in room 164. We also provide online appointments via Zoom.
What to Expect
Online
Once you have scheduled an online appointment with either an online or on-campus tutor, you will receive an email on the day of your appointment with a Zoom link to begin your live tutoring session. At the time of your appointment, your tutor will be ready in the Zoom room to help you with any stage of the speechmaking process and answer any questions you may have.
*All appointments are made in the MST time zone. If time zone differences prohibit you from scheduling a convenient appointment, please fill out this survey and expect feedback to be emailed back to you within 24-48 hours. Please note this is only for special circumstances or if a need is communicated as a face-to-face online appointment will be more beneficial for you.
On-Campus
Once you have scheduled an on-campus appointment with one of our on-campus tutors, you will get a confirmation email reminding you of the appointment. At the time of your appointment, please check in at the front desk in McKay 164 and feel free to stamp your punch card before your tutor guides you to an empty reserved classroom to work on your speech.
*Please note that all appointments made during the Spring 2020 semester due to COVID-19 will be held online via Zoom. Schedule an appointment like listed above but wait for an email with a Zoom link instead of going to campus.
