Henry J. Eyring will be formally installed as the Seventeenth President of Brigham Young University-Idaho at an Inauguration ceremony on Tuesday, September 19, at 2:00 p.m. in the BYU-Idaho Center.
Doors will open at 1:00 p.m. Any classes in session prior to the Inauguration will be released at 1:20 p.m. All reserved seating will be released at 1:40 p.m. The Inauguration will take the place of the regular weekly devotional. Sunday dress is requested for all those in attendance. The Inauguration may be viewed live at www.byui.edu/president/inauguration.
President Henry B. Eyring, First Counselor in the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and First Vice Chairman of the BYU-Idaho Board of Trustees, will preside at the event.
In conjunction with the Inauguration of Henry J. Eyring, a special Inaugural Art Exhibit will run from September 19 to October 20 in the Jacob Spori Art Gallery at BYU-Idaho. The exhibit will feature the artwork of President Henry B. Eyring. Over the past 60 years, President Eyring has created hundreds of watercolor paintings and drawings. President Henry J. Eyring and his family have had a long association with Rexburg and BYU-Idaho. He first came to the college town as a child in 1971 when his father, Henry B. Eyring, served as president of the institution-then called Ricks College.
Henry J. Eyring returned to Rexburg and BYU-Idaho in 2006. Over the ensuing 11 years at the university, Henry has served as Associate Academic Vice President over Online Learning, Advancement Vice President, and Academic Vice President.
Previous to his work at BYU-Idaho, Henry worked as a strategy consultant at Monitor Company in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and as MBA Director at BYU in Provo.
Henry has served in various callings in the Church, including full-time missionary in the Japan Nagoya Mission, bishop, mission president in the Tokyo Japan North Mission, and president of the Rexburg Idaho YSA 6th Stake.
Henry earned a bachelor's degree in geology, a Master of Business Administration, and a Juris Doctorate from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. While attending BYU, he married his high school sweetheart, Kelly Ann Child. They are the parents of five children. Their three oldest children are graduates of BYU-Idaho, and their younger two children still live at home. They also have two grandchildren with a third on the way.

A news conference with President Henry J. Eyring will be held following the inauguration on Tuesday, September 19, in the university's Manwaring Center Special Events Room at 3:45 p.m. Following the news conference, members of the media will be invited to tour the Inaugural Art Exhibit.
