The Bonner family, a group of 10 talented singers and performers, will close out Brigham Young University-Idaho’s Spring 2019 Center Stage series during BYU-Idaho’s Education Week with their performance on Friday, August 2 at 7:30 p.m. in the Hart Auditorium.
The family, composed of Debra and Harry, and their eight children, combine their voices and talents to craft vocal harmonies, soulful original songs, and share the inspiring message that “we need Him, and He is here.”
Debra Bonner took voice lessons throughout her childhood and graduated with honors from the University of Michigan in vocal performance. Throughout her career, Debra Bonner has been a close associate of Seth Riggs, a renowned vocal pedagogue. Riggs has trained artists such as Michael Jackson, Madonna, Tina Turner, Josh Groban, Stevie Wonder, and more.
Having pioneered a new vocal technique called DebraTone, Debra Bonner has become an elite vocal coach who strives to help people find their “true voice” by strengthening and coordinating the muscles in the larynx. Between herself, her students, and her associates, Debra has had an influence in the training of more than one hundred Grammy, Tony, and Opera Award Winners.
The Bonner children, Nolong, Yunga, Mauli Jr., Clotile, Yahosh, Conlon, Oyoyo, and O/B/A all have musical backgrounds and will be gathering in Rexburg from all across the country with their parents for the show.
