Brigham Young University-Idaho invites students, employees, and the public to tour one of its newly completed facilities on Thursday, May 18 from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. The Agricultural Science Center located at 5360 West Highway 33, Rexburg, ID will open its doors to share how it provides real-world experience to students in the BYU-Idaho Animal & Food Science Department.

Elder Neil L. Andersen dedicated the Agricultural Science Center on February 14, 2017, along with the Science and Technology Center and the Central Energy Facility.

Guided and self-guided tours of the new facilities will be available to the public on foot, via van transportation, and horse-drawn carriage. Visitors will be able to explore the feedlot, feed transfer facility, as well as the chicken, sheep, swine, and heifer development areas. Children will also be able to get up close to the animals.

The Agricultural Science Center, formerly known as the Livestock Center, was acquired by BYU-Idaho in 1978 and is located about five miles west of the BYU-Idaho campus. Renovations to several buildings and construction of 13 new structures took place from 2015 to 2017. New facilities include a Livestock Handling Facility, a Heifer Development Facility, and a Feed Transfer Facility.

Sitting on 140 acres, the Agricultural Science Center contains an indoor arena and classrooms used for instruction, along with structures that house livestock, providing students with hands-on experience in the field of agriculture and animal science, while most classroom learning takes place in the newly constructed Science and Technology Center. The new and remodeled facilities enable students to experience learning opportunities that provide real-world experience.

Parking will be available at the Agricultural Science Center and a free shuttle will leave from and return to the west Manwaring Center roundabout on campus every 20 minutes from 12:00 - 4:30 p.m. on the day of the open house.
