Elder David A. Bednar

We are pleased to announce that Brigham Young University-Idaho will broadcast an online commencement service to celebrate and recognize our Fall Semester 2020 graduates. Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will address the 2,655 graduates in an online commencement ceremony on Wednesday, December 16, 2020. The event will begin at 7:00 p.m. MST at www.byui.edu/live/video.

The university will award 2,035 bachelor’s degrees and 620 associate degrees. Of the graduates, 1,640 are women and 1,015 are men. Campus-based students make up 1,869 of this semester’s graduates, while 786 of the graduates are online students, and 682 of those graduating started their college career as PathwayConnect students.

Elder David A. Bednar was ordained and set apart as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on October 7, 2004. He earned degrees from BYU and Purdue University and was a professor of business management at Texas Tech University and at the University of Arkansas. He served as president of BYU-Idaho from 1997–2004.

Elder Bednar will be accompanied at BYU-Idaho’s fall commencement by General Authority Seventy and Church Educational System Commissioner Elder Paul V. Johnson.

As graduates join us in this commencement service virtually, we encourage them to gather with their families, celebrate, take pictures, and share in their achievement. We commend and congratulate each graduate and hope you will join us virtually in this unique experience.
