REXBURG, Idaho ­­­- The New Shanghai Circus from the People's Republic of China will perform at Brigham Young University-Idaho Saturday, Jan. 30, at 7:30 p.m. in the Hart Auditorium.

Tickets are on sale at the BYU-Idaho Ticket Office in the Manwaring Center or by calling 208-496-3170. Tickets are also available online at www.byui.edu/tickets. The cost is $10 and $14 for the general public and $5 and $7 for BYU-Idaho students. A preshow dinner beginning at 6 p.m. is $15 extra.

The show will feature such traditional Chinese acts such as contortion, jar juggling, hoop diving, plate spinning, chair balancing and group bike riding.

Founded in 1951 as the Shanghai Acrobatic Theatre, the New Shanghai Circus has won more gold, silver and bronze medals in domestic and international circus competitions to date than any other Chinese acrobatic company.

Breathtaking and polished to perfection, the singular skills performed by the New Shanghai Circus have their roots in everyday lives of the village peasants, farmers and craftsman of the Han Dynasty.

Selected from thousands of performers in China, the group presents the best artists who have trained their entire lives to present their short segment of each show.
