With the rise of technology and its ongoing advancements, there has been a rise in cybercrime. We at BYU-Idaho are very aware of these risks and are combating them in many ways.
One of these ways is through 2-factor authentication, or 2FA. 2FA is an extra layer of security added to your account that requires you to prove you are who you say you are - aka "authenticate" - with a username, a password, and an additional method or "factor" when logging in.
2-factor authentication was implemented for full-time employees and faculty in June 2017. It will now be implemented for student employees on August 10, 2017.
The Information Technology Department has plenty of resources to help student employees transition into this new expectation. We hope that, along with these resources, supervisors of student employees will help their students transition seamlessly into this change.
