After a thorough evaluation of the Canvas Learning Management System, we are excited to announce BYU-Idaho’s decision to use Canvas as our official LMS.

The first courses will be taught in Canvas starting Fall Semester 2018. The full conversion of all BYU-Idaho courses will take several semesters and is projected to be finalized by Fall Semester 2019. All instructors who wish to convert their campus courses to Canvas for Fall Semester 2018 will be allowed to sign up for a sit-down consultation with a curriculum designer and a Faculty Technology Center assistant to discuss their courses and the overall conversion process. To help the retention of new Freshman, our goal is to transfer all 100 and 200 level classes first, so new students will have a clean experience.

Online Curriculum Development will take care of the conversion for online courses. Although layout and instructions will change, the course outcomes, content, assessments, and activities will be carefully preserved. Course leads will be contacted for a prototype lesson review before the course is converted.

Faculty Training

Several training sessions of I-Learn Canvas training are being held at the Faculty Technology Center. Sign up for a training session if interested.
