Brother Derick Rhoton began teaching at BYU-Idaho in 2008 in the Business Management Department.  He received a bachelor's and master's degree from Brigham Young University in Accounting. He is currently working on his dissertation for a PhD in Instructional Design from Idaho State University.

Brother Rhoton is a Certified Public Accountant and began his career with KPMG, a big four accounting firm specializing in international corporate taxation.  He has also worked as a financial executive for various publicly-traded companies in Phoenix, Boise, and Atlanta.

Brother Rhoton served as a full-time missionary in the Japan Osaka mission and his church assignments have included serving in the Primary, Sunday School, and Young Men organizations.  He has also served in the Elder's Quorum and High Priests Groups.  He is a counselor in the Bishopric in his ward.

He and his wife, Suzanne, are the parents of eleven children - six boys and five girls. His wife and two of their children are currently enrolled as students here at BYU-Idaho this semester.  All four of his oldest children were called to Spanish speaking missions. He currently has a son serving in the Mexico Cancun mission. Out of all of his career opportunities, he is most grateful to be an instructor and a learner at BYU-Idaho.
