He was an account executive for 5 years at an advertising agency in Salt Lake City before coming to Rexburg to serve as Senior Communication Specialist for LDS Philanthropies, assigned to BYU-Idaho projects. He is now working on campus as Director of Community Relations and University Events.

Brett also taught evening Public Speaking classes at BYU-Idaho for five years before earning a Master's of Public Administration through the Romney Institute of the Marriott School of Management at BYU.
