For more information, please go to the Benefits website at:      Job Summary      BYU Broadcasting has the need for a crossover position: that of a producer who will provide creative story development in the edit bay and an experienced video “editor” who can effectively edit and technically tell the story. This producer/editor preditor will be assigned to help design and create content for BYU Broadcasting’s promotional media intended to fill breaks and use on multiple social media platforms. A successful preditor will focus on raising the quality level of marketing and promotional material for all TV content as well as enhancing the channel brand. There will be a strong focus on the creation of assets for social media and digital platform releases.      The primary purpose of a good producer/editor is to carry the creative concept through from start to finish. They must create and compose a message enveloped within a story arc in a visually and audibly coherent sequence—resulting in an influential and emotional viewer experience. This is artistic storytelling that combines compelling music, atmospheric sound design, meaningful imagery and dialog to produce content in the form of image features, campaigns, trailers, social media and much more.      The producer/editor will be responsible for leading a team of student editors in the creation of custom media assets for social media as well as broadcast. They will work with the director of content and marketing managers to conceptualize, plan, creatively edit scripts, lead the editing and coordinate with other Post Production specialists in the process. This person must be artistic, highly creative, very technical, extremely organized and have a solid understanding of a full Post Production workflow in a network facility.                  Essential Functions      Effective video-editing storytelling in a highly creative, artistic and innovative way.   Make editorial decisions in the creation of an effective story arc.   Work closely with directors and producers, both within BYUB and outside, to achieve the desired results. This includes defining any technical recommendations in pre-production and then execution in the editing process.   Creation of social media assets to be delivered to multiple distribution outlets.   Instruct and assign student post (PA) production assistants to log, assistant edit and on-line.   Supervise the finishing of on-air material by the team.   Ensure all delivery of finished media is on time and meeting all deadlines.   Leading, mentoring and training a team of post PAs (production assistants) in the creation of unique social media assets.   Pre-production: Consult and strategize with producers and directors to creatively design a vision for assigned campaigns.   Oversee the implementation of the strategies for all assigned projects. Attend and participate in planning meetings.   Act as liaison with other post-production departments (i.e., color correction, sound design, graphics and motion graphics).   QUALITY CONTROL   Ensure all finished material meets BYU Broadcasting standards as well as FCC technical standards.   Technical asset and file management   Oversee preparing of all finished projects and media assets for archiving.   Supervise all ingest of new media assets for assigned projects.   Coordinate with outside vendors to secure assets for production.   Manage media assets in a coherent work environment.      Skills, abilities, knowledge, licenses, certifications:      - Must be highly creative and artistic in storytelling and delivering finished products at the highest level.      - The candidate should have extensive experience in all aspects of Post Production, including editorial, color correction, post sound, effects and motion-graphics.      - Should be able to demonstrate experience in editing a wide variety of styles/genres.      - Should have extensive experience managing resources, projects, deadlines and timelines.      - Ability to produce projects under the pressure of tight deadlines.      - Ability to monitor, train and coordinate assignments with a team of student employees, contract employees and others as needed.      - Ability to ensure technical, artistic and uniform quality of products delivered to various clients and systems.      - Must be current with new technologies related to post production.      - Must be capable of delivering quality productions as well as training others and being a resource to others in the department.      - Must be able to take constructive feedback, make changes and work with other departments on asset creation.            Additional Comments      Prior experience creating media for social media outlets is highly desirable.      This position is a key member of the content production team. It is important that this person be highly creative and artistic, able to deal with the industry trends and have advanced technical skill in editing. This person must have the artistic skill and ability to tell an effective story in various duration and effectively edit content that meets and exceeds BYUB standards. They will need to have a deep knowledge of all aspects of the post production process. In addition, they need to know how to find, organize, inspire and manage people for the best results. This position must be current in industry trends, styles and techniques. This position must be available some nights and weekends to fulfill project needs and meet deadlines. Must include advanced knowledge of the post production process and workflow including off-line/on-line editorial, color correction, sound design, motion graphics and such. Must include lead editor of content for TV and social media distribution. Must have strong concept creation skills and experience in creative campaign designs.      Must include a “Demo-Reel” or work samples by URL.            Preferred:      Bachelor’s degree in communications, broadcasting, film or related field and 3+ years of professional video editing/motion graphics (audio editing, color correction, integrated motion graphic, project supervision, resource management and employee supervision). Experience with a wide variety of programming lengths and genres.
