Sister Kim Flagstad is an Idaho native. As a young adult, she always wanted to move to the big city of New York but quickly realized how lucky she was to live in such a beautiful place. She attended college at Boise State University before it was “cool.” Shortly after starting college, she married and was blessed with six amazing kids over the next 15 years. Since then, she has also gained three more stepsons and three incredible grandkids.

Through the years, she worked to provide for her family in many different capacities and industries, from the legal field to corporate records, retail sales, mortgage lending, and travel (her favorite). Kim also helped design, build, and run a small business along the way. All these were done in an attempt to provide a great childhood for her kids. She really understands the importance of finding what you love early and getting connected with the right people to get you there. (Finding the perfect internship 😊).

Kim lives in Emmett, Idaho, and, with mixed feelings, retired in 2020 from Delta Airlines; the offer was too good to pass up. Kim has not looked back and has truly embraced retirement. She has been blessed to serve in Primary, Young Women’s, and Relief Society and is currently the ward activities coordinator. She has enjoyed every opportunity to learn and grow in the church. Kim and her husband Shawn get up each day excited to plan their next great adventure, which might include mountain biking, crafts, camping, taking one of their classic muscle cars to a show, and, of course, a great plane trip somewhere in the world! The other amazing benefit of being retired is they have so many chances to volunteer in the community; both Kim and Shawn find great satisfaction in this. Kim is excited to add serving with the BYU-Idaho Career Center to her journey.
