BYUI wireless Automatic Setup

For Perkins, Kerr, Barnes, Ricks and Chapman Halls and the Joseph Fielding Smith & Thomas E. Ricks Buildings:

 

Windows Vista 

  1. Click the wireless icon in your taskbar and click on the BYUI network.
  2. Enter your netID and Password in the Enter Credentials window.  Leave the Domain blank.
  3. Click OK to authorize the certificate.

 

Windows XP

  1. Right click the computer icon (wireless icon) near the clock in the bottom right hand corner
  2. Click View Available wireless Networks
  3. Double Click BYUI-Setup to connect
  4. Open Internet Explorer (this setup does not always work in other internet browsers, such as, Firefox)
  5. If you do not have Service Pack 2 and/or the Hot Fixes described, click to install them. 
  6. Restart your computer.
  7. Reconnect to BYUI-Setup as in step 3 and 4.
  8. Click Start and following the subsequent directions.
  9. When asked for your user name and password, enter your NetID and Password.
  10. You may see a pop up window down by the taskbar .  Click this to authorize the certificate.  Once again enter your NetID and Password while leaving the Domain blank.
  11. You can now connect to BYUI anytime. 

    Do not repeat BYUI-Setup once BYUI is working.

 

Mac OS X

  1. Turn the AirPort on: Click the Turn Airport Off icon in the Menu Bar, then select Turn Airport On
  2. Once the AirPort is turned on Turn Airport On click the icon again and select BYUI.
  3. Enter your user name and password (Note: Your user name and password are your NetID and password). Make sure that the Wireless Security is selected as WPA Enterprise and that the Configuration is selected as Automatic.

  4. After the User Name and Password are entered click OK.

  5. If any certificate error pages pop up, click Show Certificate and set it to Always Trust
