Help for BYUI wireless 

Refer to the Hotspots Map to see it's availability in each building.

BYUI

The new BYUI network provides greater bandwidth (speed), better security, and more access to campus resources.

Due to configuration changes to the security certificate on March 3, 2009 additional changes for Windows XP and Vista machines need to be made in order to connect to the BYUI Wireless network. Changes are listed below.

Instructions for Wireless Vista Re-Configuration

(Scroll down for XP Instructions)

First, right click on the wireless icon in the bottom right corner of your screen.

Then click on Network and Sharing Center

In the Network and Sharing Center, click Manage wireless networks on the left side of the screen.

First left click ONCE on the BYUI network icon that is displayed in the list, and then right click on the same BYUI network icon and select Properties.

Click on the Security Tab

Click on the Settings button half way down the window.

UN-check the option that says Validate server certificate

Click OK to exit the window and click OK on the subsequent window.

Instructions for  Wireless XP Re-Configuration

First, right click on the wireless icon in the bottom right corner of your screen.

Then click on Status

Click on Properties in the bottom left corner of the window.

Select the Wireless Networks tab at the top of the window. Click once on the BYUI network to make sure that it is highlighted and then click on Properties.

Select the Authentication tab at the top of the window. Click on Properties.

UN-check the option that says Validate server certificate

Click OK to exit the window and click OK on the subsequent window.
