Qualtrics is a powerful web form-building tool that is used primarily for surveys. It can also be used to collect feedback, register participants in events, and collect data. Form results are stored in a database for review online, for download into various data formats (including Excel) and even emailed reports in various ways. Forms can be embedded into web pages, making them seamless for your users.
A broad selection questions types and presentation logic make Qualtrics forms better than standard web forms. The result is a capable form tool that gathers data in a modern, flexible way.
The most common use of Qualtrics on campus is for surveys. The second most common use is to replace web-based forms that email their submissions. Emailing form submissions is still possible with Qualtrics, but the data is also available for download as needed, foregoing the requirement to sort, copy and paste, or otherwise manipulate emailed form data into other data sources.
To begin using Qualtrics at BYU-Idaho, you need to create a free Qualtrics account. Visit http://byui.qualtrics.com/. It may request your BYUI login credentials. If you have never visited Qualtrics before, you will then be asked to create a new account before continuing.
By default, new accounts are student accounts, which are limited in the number of surveys they can create or edit. If you are using Qualtrics as an employee, you will need to contact the Helpdesk (firstname.lastname@example.org, or 208-496-9000) to get a full account. Give them the email you used to sign up, and the department you work for.
