To make a working anchor for a web page you will need an anchor link and an anchor.
- The anchor link is a link the user clicks on to change the focus of the web page to view the anchor.
- The anchor marks the location of where the view will focus.
How to make an Anchor Link
- In the web editor highlight the content you wish to make into an anchor link.
- a. Right click on the content to activate the dropdown menu.
Click on "Insert/edit link".
b. Click on the button with the icon of a chain link. Hovering over the button will display "Insert/edit link".
- Select the "Anchor" radio button.
- In the "Anchor" text field enter a pound sign (#) followed by the name of the anchor without spaces. This must be the exact same spelling that will be used for the name of the "Anchor".
Note: Just enter a pound sign (#) without spaces to make an anchor link that will focus the view at the top of the web page.
- (Optional) Enter a message in the "Title" text field. The message will show on hover.
- Click "Insert" when finished.
How to make an Anchor
- In the web editor highlight the content you wish to make into an anchor. The title of a paragraph is most commonly used.
- Click on the button with the icon of an anchor. Hovering over the button will display "Insert/edit anchor".
- Enter a name for the anchor without spaces, do not enter a pound sign (#).
- Click "Insert" when finished.
