Dennis R. Byington ’68 served a mission to Argentina. He was a byu/rotc graduate in 1974 and graduated from the University of Idaho Law School in 1981. The Twin Falls, Idaho, native married Ursula Froisland ’72 from Germany in the Washington Temple. Dennis owns a law practice and stays active in community fine arts events and scouting. The Byingtons have eight children and reside in Burley, Idaho.

Priscilla Grief Sanders ’68 of Holland, Mich., graduated from Western Michigan University in April 2002 with a master’s degree in social work. She also received certification in Holistic Health Care.

Chris Eskridge ’71 was re-appointed as the Director of the American Society of Criminology. He is a professor of criminal justice at the University of Nebraska and also serves on the staff of the strength and conditioning program. He recently served as visiting professor of law at Sillimen University in the Philippines. He is the editor of the Journal of Contemporary Criminal Justice. Chris and his wife Cherie live in Lincoln, Neb.

Lola B. Walters ’74, a former Ricks College English teacher, has published a new novel, Finding a Mother, based on one of her childhood friends who had been in six different foster homes. Lola has been published in many magazines including the Ensign and Liahona. Lola lives in Salem, Utah.

David G. Stokes ’76 has been appointed Superintendent of the Trout Lake School District. David and his wife Jari reside in Trout Lake, Wash.

Alan R.’81 and Kathrine McRae Holyoak ’86 are living in Rexburg. Alan joined the faculty of the biology department at BYU–Idaho in fall 2002. He previously spent ten years as a member of the biology department at Manchester College, Ind. Kathy has worked as a dental hygienist since 1988. They have four children.

Sonia Smith Stone ’83 and her husband Rob live in Big Piney, Wyo. He works at First National Bank of Pinedale, and she is an assistant cook at Southwest Sublette County Pioneers.

Eileen Mary Manning Martin ’85 works for the U.S. Department of Defense in the contracting department. Eileen and her husband John live in Nashua, N.H.

Dohn Thornton II ’85 recently resigned from a position as director of marketing for Eastern Europe for Cues Inc., a manufacturer of pipeline inspection equipment based in Orlando, Fla. Dohn spent 12 years in Moscow, Russia. He is now a branch manager for American Residential Funding. He and his wife Elena have two children and live in Orlando.

Somara S. Bridge ’89 recently was named as technology manager of bbcon Training & Publishing. She resides in Pflugerville, Texas.

Ann Bluemlein Herron ’91 is an English instructor at Stevens Henager College and an adjunct faculty member at Utah State University, teaching in the journalism and communications department. Ann and her husband Joshua live in Logan, Utah.

Michelle Hedges Loft ’92 is the author of four instructional craft books on polymer clay. Several of her designs have been featured in craft magazines and on local news shows. Her angel designs commemorating 9-11 attacks were displayed on the Rosie O’ Donnell Show. Michelle and her husband Brian live in Blackfoot, Idaho, and have four children.

Robert ’93 and Jen Evans Reinstadler ’92 reside in Missoula, Mont., with their three children. Jen recently won first place in a national art competition for American Mothers, Inc. Robert is a baker at Costco Wholesaler.

Timothy Robison ’93 of Washington, D.C., works for Congressman Phil Crane of Illinois as a legislative correspondent and enjoys giving guided tours of the Nation’s Capitol.

Lorraine L. Norton Thompson ’93 and her family live in Woodstock, Georgia. The picture says it all.


Ann Collier ’94 served a mission to Malaga, Spain, and graduated from Idaho State University with a bachelor’s of arts in international studies. She lived and worked in Geneva, Switzerland, and completed an internship on Capitol Hill for Senator Larry E. Craig. She is attending graduate school at George Mason University in Fairfax, Va.

Greg ’94 and Barbara Rae Ackroyd Childs ’95 are living in Las Vegas, Nev. Barbara recently joined unlv’s department of marketing and community relations as a public relations specialist. She previously worked for Waggener Edstrom, a high-tech public relations agency in Portland, Ore. She has a bachelor’s degree in public relations from byu.

Jennifer L Stowers Guymon ’95 works at an independent bookstore while her husband Sean studies modern dance at the University of Utah. Jennifer and Sean reside in Salt Lake City and have one daughter.

Jason ’96 and Laura Pratt LeVitre ’95 are the parents of three daughters. He recently graduated from California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco, Calif., and will be doing a two-year residency at Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc, Mich.

Lauren Cummings Cornelius ’96 and her husband Aaron are living in Johnson, Vt., where she is attending Johnson State College. Lauren served in the Spain Bilbao Mission. They have a baby girl.

Greg Giauque ’97 has recently been promoted to national training coordinator for Life Touch, Inc., a Salt Lake City based home automation manufacturer.

Aaron O. ’97 and Melissa Parsons Kibler ’97 live in Vacaville, Calif. Aaron finished at Westminster College in June 2001 and is a registered nurse at Travis afb. Melissa graduated from the University of Utah in May 2000 and teaches piano lessons. They have three children.

Jennifer Lee Sucher Kjar ’98 is working in Young Women. Her husband Paul graduated from byu and works with Wellpoint Health Systems. Jennifer and Paul reside in Kennesaw, Ga. with their baby daughter.

Becky Jo Leatham Mitchell ’98 graduated from Salt Lake Community College as a physical therapist assistant and works in an outpatient orthopedic clinic in Layton, Utah. Married in the Bountiful Temple, she has a baby boy and lives in Kaysville, Utah.

Mark A. ’98 and Thais Carla Guimaraes Wells ’00 live in Syracuse, N.Y. Thais graduated from the University of Utah in spring 2002 and is applying to law school. Mark is pursuing a master’s in international relations. They have a baby daughter.

Allison Marie Jones Williams ’98 is teaching culinary arts part time at BYU–Idaho. After receiving her associate degree from Ricks, she received another associate’s at South Seattle in baking/pastries and was trained to be a pastry chef. She and her husband Jeff reside in Rexburg.

Matthew Lauren Yearsley ’99 graduated from byu in 2001 with a degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology. He works as an Industrial Engineer for a local potato dehydration company. Matthew and his wife Janae live in Hamer, Idaho.

Stephen Crane Hertz, ’00 of Salt Lake, served a mission in Cincinnati, Ohio, and is attending the University of Utah. He worked for the Olympics and is currently working at the Inn at Temple Square as a banquet server.

Aaron Jones ’00 is married to Mandy Snider. Aaron is being trained as a U.S. Army linguist and intelligence analyst. Aaron and Mandy have a son and live in Seaside, Calif.

Marissa Kay Adkins Pinon ’00 is the marketing communication coordinator for Radix Corporation in Salt Lake City, Utah. She helps create and implement marketing strategies for the U.S. and England for the handheld computer manufacturer. Her husband Aaron Javier Pinon ’01 is in his last year of undergraduate school at byu prior to law school.

Trenton F. ’00 and Tiffany E. Thomas Stanger ’00 live in Madison, Wis. A byu graduate in agronomy-crop and soil science, he is seeking a master’s in agronomy-cropping systems management from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She graduated from Utah State University in family and human development.

Audra West ’00 of Salt Lake City is serving in the Texas San Antonio Mission, Spanish speaking. She had been working as a film major at the University of Utah.


IN MEMORIAM

Dorothy Purser ’51, professor of physical education at Central Washington University, passed away July 28 at her home in Ellensburg, Wash. A Rigby, Idaho, native, Purser, 71, joined the cwu faculty in 1957 and helped gain national accreditation and international recognition for its emergency medical technician (emt) training and paramedic preparation program.
