Email is an official method of communication on campus. There are three email types: Notices, Advisories, and The Feed. Students and employees are responsible for the information contained in both Notices and Advisories.
BYU-Idaho Notice (As Needed)
This email is for urgent and high priority campus-wide messages. Examples include campus security alerts; emergency announcements; deaths; and unscheduled IT maintenance, campus construction, and road closures.
Employee/Student Advisory (Tuesdays)
Advisory emails contain important information that students and employees need to know or that the university must disclose. Examples include: academic and financial aid deadlines; scheduled IT maintenance, campus construction, and road closures; fee disclosures; and university policies.
The Feed (Thursdays)
The Feed includes promotional information that may be of interest to employees and students, such as concerts, dances, Activities Program events, society and association notices, sales, requests for volunteers, and so on.
Unique versions of each of the above emails are sent to the following audiences: employees, on-campus students, online students, and Pathway students. For both Advisories and The Feed, if no message requests have been submitted by the deadline, no email will be sent that week.
Submitting an Email Message
To be included in campus-wide email, messages must pertain to information or events sponsored by or directly affiliated with BYU-Idaho. Submit items for inclusion by filling out the Feed Submission Form. All requests must be received by 5 p.m. the day prior to being included.
Please include the following in your email request:
- Headline (up to 60 characters, including spaces)
- Body text (up to 200 characters, including spaces)
- Hyperlink (optional)
- Message audience (on-campus students, online students, on-campus employees and/or online employees)
Anything beyond the character counts listed above will be edited for length. Messages may be linked to a webpage where additional information may be housed.
Each email request sent to Feed Submission Form will be good for one inclusion in the next scheduled Advisory or The Feed. If you would like to have your message in subsequent emails, please resubmit your request on that week. While you may make your announcement as often as weekly, consider best advertising practices when planning your communications.
