"The principle is so very clear: obedience to the small things, creates a spirit of obedience in all things, and thus protects against evil and invites the great blessings of heaven."

Student Testing Center Use
Policies and Procedures |
This is a short list of Policies and Procedures you need to be aware of.
The BYU-Idaho Honor Code
The BYU-Idaho Testing Center is dedicated to teaching BYU-Idaho students the Honor Code. All activities in the Testing Center are moniterd by employees and video cameras. Inappropriate behavior involving Academic Honesty and/or repeated indiscretions of the Dress and Grooming Standards are reported to the faculty member involved and/or the Honor Code Office.
|
Cell Phones
The Testing Center is a NO CELL PHONE ZONE! Your cell phone must be powered off, not in a mode like "silent". A cell phone discovered in the Testing Center is an Academic Honesty issue that provides a test taker the opportunity to communicate inappropriately with someone else and will be confiscated and reported as academic dishonesty.
|
Calculators and PDA's
Calculators may be used on tests only as your teacher has made appropriate arrangements for your test with the Testing Center (4 Function, Non Graphing, or Any).
Any Calculator does not include Calculators with a QWERTY keyboard or PDA's. These cannot be used in the Testing Center.
|
Electronic Dictionaries
Electronic Dictionaries are NOT ALLOWED in the Testing Center. These devices provide opportunity to bring inappropriate notes into the testing center or to remove test questions from the testing center.
|
Ear Phones
Ear Phones pose a test security problem and are NOT ALLOWED! Ear phones can be used only if you are taking a test that requires listening to a specific sound tract. This will be indicated on your answer or cover sheet.
|
Food and Drink
Food and Drink of any kind are NOT ALLOWED in the Testing Center. There is a drinking fountain in the test room if you need to have water while testing. The reason for this policy is opportunity for academic dishonesty and disruption of other individuals testing.
|
Writing on Tests
If you write on an objective test intended for response on a red or blue answer sheet you will be charged $5.00 for replacement of the test. You will receive instructions on which test is to be written on or not.
|
Scratch Paper
The Testing Center provides scratch paper for your use. If you use your own paper it must be inspected and marked by a Testing Center employee before you enter the test room.
No scratch paper or notes of any kind are allowed to be taken out of the Testing Center. If you have notes that you are allowed to use on your test that you want to keep, make a copy of those notes before coming to the test center. They cannot leave the Testing Center once you bring them in.
|
Testing Materials
All parts of the test picked up in the Testing Center are the property of the Testing Center. If any part of the test or answer sheet documents are destroyed and/or not returned appropriately to the Testing Center check-in desk as you leave the Testing Center it will be reported to the Honor Code Office as cheating.
|
Backpacks and Other Bags
We suggest you leave everything home except what you need to take your test, however, you will be allowed to bring a backpack or bag into the Testing Center. You must have all items to be used on the test out of your bag before entering the test room. Once in the testing room your bags are to be placed under your chair, not in the aisle (safety) and not under your legs (security). If you open your bag or reach into it in the test room you will be approached about inappropriate activities (cheating).
If you are carrying anything that will not fit under your chair, it is not allowed in the testing room and may not be left anywhere in the Testing Center.
|
Pencils and Note Books
The Testing Center does not have pencils to loan. Pencils can be purchased for $0.25 from a machine in the entry room. There are also note books that can be purchased for $1.00 (4 quarters) in the same area. We do not have large amounts of change so please bring you own coins.
