Welcome to the Student Safety page!

 

Student Safety Council Mission Statement 

The Student Safety Council is a university organization.  Its mission is to:

  1. Educate the students and employees of local safety hazards and dangers.
  2. Ensure that all possible precautions are taken for the well-being of the students.
  3. Assist Brigham Young University - Idaho in its mission to safely maintain a wholesome academic, cultural, social, and spiritual environment.

 

Student Safety Council Goals & Objectives

The goals and objectives of the Student Safety Council are:

  1. Creatively and productively implement safety stratagies to break bad safety habits. 
  2. Work with university events especially "Get Connected", the freshmen orientation.
  3. Actively be engaged in monitoring and responding to concerns by Presidents Council, employees, parents, students, and the community.
  4. Constantly recruiting volunteers and prospective members.
  5. Be examples of safety as we pursue our own endeavors.

 

Survive the Drive!

Tips to remember as you travel over the break:

  • Eat hard candies, chocolate, soda, etc. to keep busy and keep your energy up
  • Get enough sleep the night before
  • Don’t turn the heat up too high
  • Avoid driving for more than two hours at a time
  • Eat healthy before and during the trip
  • Listen to music to prevent zoning out
  • No matter what you do, it’s a long drive; don’t speed or drive aggressively!
  • WWJD: be polite to others on the road
  • Texting while driving is worse than being drunk
