Exception Request Process
Before submitting exception requests, departments should exhaust all reasonable options available to filling jobs with full-time students. Exception requests will be handled as follows:
1. Department supervisors (not students) should complete the exception request form found on the student employment Web site.
2. Approval must be obtained by each level of management up to the director/dean level.
3. If approved by the director/dean level, the request is submitted to a student employment exception committee for review and final determination. This committee consists of the student employment coordinator and one representative from each vice president area.
Approved, On-going Exceptions
The exception request form is not necessary when making requests related to the following situations:
1. International students on their annual break
2. Students in their last semester taking less than 12 credits
3. Students with learning disabilities identified by the Academic Learning department
4. Off-track students or newly graduated students who are needed for training purposes for up to two weeks into the new semester
5. Newly graduated students during the Summer Session (discouraged, but possible)
