Can I work before I have done my employment paperwork at Human Resources?
No. Although an employer may need you to train or to start work immediately, students must present to Human Resources appropriate documententation verifying eligibility to work and receive approval from that office prior to beginning work. -
I am looking for an on-campus job. Where do I go?
You can start your job search by looking at the job postings online at www.byui.edu/studentemployment. -
Can I work if I don't have 12 credits?
No. BYU-Idaho policy states that students must be registered for at least 12 credits to work on campus. However, during the Summer Session (the seven week break between Spring and Fall semesters) students will be eligible to work up to 40 hours per week through the first week of Fall Semester. -
Why can international students work full-time on campus during their annual break? Because international students are limited in their employment options off campus due to federal law, the University permits them to work on campus during their annual break, which may or may not be taken during their "off-track" semester. Federal law allows international students to work up to 40 hours per week during their annual break. If departments cannot find adequate student help after giving reasonable and timely effort to recruit other qualified students, then international students are permitted to work up to 40 hours per week in one job or a combination of jobs during their annual break.
- Can I work if I have 12 credits of Continuing Ed. classes?
Yes. You are permitted to work as long as you are taking at least 12 credits and are admitted to BYU-Idaho. - Can I work over 20 hours this week and work less than 20 hours next week?
No. The limit for on-campus employment is 20 hours per week. - Can I bring in a copy of or fax my identification documents?
No. We must see the original documents. However, we will accept the receipt after ordering a new Social Security card from the Social Security office in Idaho Falls until you receive the new card in the mail. - Where do I get paid?
If you sign up for direct deposit, it will be deposited into your personal bank checking or savings account. If you choose not to sign up for direct deposit, you will pick up your pay at the Cashier's Office, located on the first floor of the Kimball building. Employees get paid the 8th and 23rd of each month.
No. Near relatives may not work in the same department or under the same supervisor.
16. Who can work during Summer Session?

Session (the 7 week break between Spring and Fall semester).
