General Questions

  • What is the Student Technology Center?

    The Student Technology Center (STC) is designed to help students fulfill their academic projects effectively, and to provide additional technological support outside the classroom. We also help the faculty by supporting the needs of both their classroom and students.

  • What support and services does the Student Technology Center offer?

    We are here to help with your projects by answering questions and teaching about how to use the software necessary to accomplish them. This includes help with video editing, photo-manipulating, illustration, and other media related software as well as iLearn. We also provide group workshops upon request. If you need help just come on in to MCK140A in the Library Commons.

  • Where is the Student Technology Center located?

    The Student Technology Center is located in the McKay Library Commons area, room 140A.


Equipment Questions

  • What kind of equipment does the Student Technology Center have available?

    We have a Mac lab that is open for students to use, scanners, regular sized paper color and black and white printers, headphones, adapter cables, and card readers.

  • What kind of equipment does the Student Technology Center have for checkout?

    We rent headphones, card readers, and adapter cables for use within the Library.

  • How can I check out a piece of equipment?

    Come to the Student Technology Center to request the equipment. Only your i-number and signature is required.

  • How long can I check out a piece of equipment?

    Please make sure to return your equipment before the STC closes on the day that the item was checked out.

  • Do I have to pay to check out any of the equipment?

    No, you do not. Checkout is free of charge.

  • What software is available in the Student Technology Center?

    We currently have the Adobe CS6 Master Collection (including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, AfterEffects, Premiere Pro, Fireworks, Audition, Encore, and more). In addition we have Microsoft Office for Mac, iMovie, Audacity and video converting software such as Media Encoder, and WinX.
