Changes to the Student Representative Council

November 19, 2013

Writer: Student Representative Council

The Student Representative Council (SRC) is making changes to the selection process for the Student Body President and Vice President, as well as restructuring the council itself.

What's changing?

  • The title of "Student Body President" will be changed to "SRC Director."  This will be more consistent with the leadership model in place in other student-led organizations on campus.

  • The "Student Body Vice President" position will be replaced with "SRC Coordinators" who will help lead the different areas of SRC.

  • Elections for student body officers will be discontinued. Instead, the SRC Director will be selected through an application and interview process.

  • The SRC Director's term of service be will be shortened from two semesters to one.

What does this mean?

SRC will remain fundamentally the same. We will continue to gather student feedback, sit on administrative councils, and function as a mouthpiece for students. Council leadership will be selected and carried out differently, but our goals and our role on campus are unchanged.
