Meet the Candidates Forum
Wednesday June 11 2008
The Meet the Candidates forum was a great opportunity to get to know each candidate a little better and further interact with them to know where your vote would be the most useful. The interesting twist on the candidates running for next semester is that there are three candidates running for three positions; therefore the voting will decide who is going to be president, and all three will be your student body officers for Fall 2008. Due to this, there was a tangible feeling of friendship between the candidates. The meeting was indeed full of lots of back slapping, hand shakes, and smiles.
Below is a very brief summary of each individual candidates campaign slogan and a few ideas of what they how to accomplish this semester:
Tayler Tibbitts "Representing You. Tell a Friend."
Increase contact and communication with students and create better understanding of the role of SRC and what can be accomplished through effective representation of students.
Nathan Vasher "Moving Forward One by One."
Resolve conflicts and create understanding between students and administrators through forums, focus groups, and other means of communication.
Brad Staples "Focusing on the One."
Reinforce honor and discipleship among students through service and personal contact.
The following is a list of a couple of questions fired at the future officers:
"What is the greatest challenge on campus?"
Nathan: Helping people grow and knowing each other.
Brad: Student morality.
Tayler: Trust.
"What distinguishes you from other candidates?"
Tayler: Experience working with administrators.
Brad: Perspective and understanding students
Nathan: Network of friends and view of people.
We as an SRC feel students are in good hands next semester. Please remember to vote for candidates June 16th thru June 20th and be sure to learn more of how you can be a part of the SRC.
