How to join
If you are interested in join the National Spanish Honor Society ΣΔΠ Sigma Delta Pi, speak with Brother Robert Colvin, or Brother Matthew Alba. Brother Colvin is our principle advisor to the ΧΔ Chi Delta chapter of Brigham Young University-Idaho.
The requirements to apply are:
1. 18 university credits of Spanish with a GPA of 3.0 in those clases
(These credits must be registered on you official university transcript)
This means that you must have either taken, or be currently enrolled in Span 339, or Span350
2. A cumulaive GPA of 3.6 and be in Junior standing
3. Be present at the induction ceremony which will be held on October 26, 2006.
The cost, which includes a lifetime membership, is $35.00. This cost incluedes a gold pin - of the official shield, a certificate, as well as covers local dues. Part of the money also goes to endow a national scholarship endowment which is only available to society members.
If you qualify in all of these aspects, you can print the application here. You can either fill it out on line and email it to Brother Colvin. or take it to his office in Smith 472.
Please remember to obtain an unoffical copy of your university transcript so that your credits and GPA can be verified.
You will be notified when you have been approved and checks can be made out to BYU-Idaho. Also, your student account can be billed directly.
