College football brings out spectators nationwide. No. 1 and Brigham Young University is in the top ten. BYU–I also brings the football fans to the stadium. Last Thursday, the bleachers had rows of fans supporting the football teams.

“I am supporting my friend. I like watching guys hitting each other. I am now playing flag football, so I understand the game,” said Chelsea Martin, a freshman studying nursing.

Several friends of the players came to support the teams. Some students dress up and cheer for their friends and favorite teams. Some girls painted T-shirts, bandanas and were cheered for their friends.

“We made our costumes, and we call ourselves the bandana babes. We are planning on coming to all the games,” said Alyssa Esmond, a sophomore studying family and consumer sciences.

The players put on some great games for their fans.

“It is really competitive. Wildcats are going to win. We have good team chemistry,” said Lehi Thomas, a freshman studying general studies.

The teams that lost Thursday night were still hopeful.

“We thought we were looking pretty good, but then we got hammered, but we will bounce back,” said Jake Thomas, a sophomore studying health education.

Defeats and all, football is simply fun, according to some students.

“It is a fun sport, and it’s good to hit people. I am excited to play,” said Ronald Bundy, a freshman studying biology.

Oklahoma, Alabama, Florida, Boise State, or BYU have their football games shown on television, but the Hawks, Knights, Wildcats, Bruins, Spartans, Wolverines, Titans and Hurricanes of BYU-Idaho fill the stadium.  □
