Winter Adventure Racing cancelled
BYU‑Idaho’s own Amazing Race will be no contest—for this semester, at least.
Due to lack of interest, winter Adventure Racing has been cut from this semester’s athletic lineup.
All together, we had maybe 18 people [interested in participating],
said Adventure Racing Manager Jamee Raymond, a junior from Jerome, Idaho. We barely had enough for three teams. There’s not very much competition there.
Raymond said the cold weather could have something to do with the lack of participation.
This is one of the coldest winters up here; people might have been afraid of the cold,
Raymond said.
Adventure Racing will still be part of the summer activities program and will return next winter if there’s enough interest.
We hope to do it next year. If we get the word out, we can have it [as part of the activities program],
Raymond said. We need enough people who are interested to start a sport.
