The Wildcats saw their undefeated season through Saturday night, beating the Vikings 13-5 in the competitive league ultimate frisbee championship, finishing the season 10-0.
The Wildcats lead the Vikings 7-0 at halftime, but the shutout was broken in the second half when the Vikings scored five touchdowns. The Vikings’ defense didn’t hold up as the Wildcats scored six more times and secured the win at 13-5.
“We just had fun out there; we’re like family. We’re here in the stadium, and we made it fun. We’re perfect as a team,” said Wildcat Kasey Thomas, a sophomore from Rockland, Idaho.
The Wildcats also said playing the Vikings made the game that much better.
“I think we just had to focus more on specific players. You could tell they wanted it,” said Wildcat Tyson Cook, a freshman from Lake Point, Utah. “I enjoyed their classiness.”
After the game, both teams met on the field to congratulate each other and talk about the game. Players from both teams joined in a cheer of “Ultimate!” and left the field smiling.
“It’s the love of the game. That’s the only reason [we play]. We love Frisbee we chase after that Frisbee like we’re dogs,” said Viking Kyle Van Genderen, a freshman from Meridian, Idaho.
The Wildcats finished the season with a perfect 10-0 record, and the Vikings ended with 8-2, beating every team but the Wildcats.
