Get wedding help from the Internet

As the first child in her family to get married and with family and friends scattered across the country, Sarah Smith, a former BYU-Idaho student, seemed to be on her own for planning her wedding. However, the Internet has made planning weddings easier.
“I’m sure it would be easier to do all [the wedding plans] with others in person, but it [was] not possible,” Smith said.
So she found an alternative.
“Google is my friend,” said Smith, who used the popular search engine to discover helpful Web sites for reception ideas.
Along with different brides and bridesmaid dresses, www.davidsbridal.com has a feature to “dress your wedding” party. People can make the reception of their dreams come to life with this virtual tool.
Looking for decorating tips? Different decorations for weddings are found at www.orientaltrading.com and they look more expensive than they cost.
“When I find stuff I like, I e-mail or print it out and send it to my family, my fiancé’s mom and my friends,” said Smith, who has also looked at different bridesmaid dresses over the Internet. For modest bridesmaid dresses, she looked at www.eternitygowns.com and www.formalwears-outlet.com.

Suggestions for wedding songs can be found at www.ourweddingsongs.com, Smith said. This site has different songs for the different festivities at a reception. Though it doesn’t have audio to hear the songs, the site does give the lyrics to the songs and comments from other people about whether they are appropriate songs for the occasion.
Heather Macbeth, a sophomore studying elementary education, said www.utahbrides.com really helped her plan her wedding.
“If you don’t mind being bombarded with a ton of e-mails on different sites to go to in planning the reception and discounts, it’s a great site to go to,” Macbeth said, who was married this past summer.
